This program is for anyone, female or male, over the age of five.
It runs from September to April with optional summer camps. The focus
is on skate ski training, both dry land and snow. Shooting skills are
developed and honed at suitable locations. Coaches emphasize both fundamentals
and high performance, elite techniques. The program includes local races
and travel to other competitions in and out of Saskatchewan throughout
the season.
Training takes place at the U of Regina, Mount Pleasant Park,
or the Science Center area, the Laird range, the Regina Wildlife Federation
site and the adjacent White Butte trail system plus suitable dry land
skate areas. The training and race schedules will be posted on www.reginaskiclub.ca.
Participation in Biathlon through the Regina Ski Club also requires
membership in Biathlon Saskatchewan and the Regina Wildlife
Federation. The Majority of 'Biathlon members' are families with children
and parents interested in the sport. Volunteers as well as participants
are welcome as there is much to do. Check the
Biathlon page on this web site for the race calendar and related information.

The White Butte Recreation Site, 20 minutes east of Regina, features
15 kilometers of regularly groomed trails through gently rolling, treed
terrain. Amenities include a parking lot, warm-up hut and outdoor toilets. The Regina Ski Club through a formal agreement with Saskatchewan Environment manages this facility during the winter. The objective is to provide high quality cross-country ski trails
for recreational and competitive skiers for both classic and skating techniques. The skating track (full width initially) is packed first to establish a base. The classic track (two parallel groves) is 'set' to one side as soon as there is sufficient snow to cover all ground litter. The Marsh trail is a designated classic area (no skating) to be skied-in manually until there is enough snow to use machinery. There are also 1.5 kilometers of specially designated trails & a separate parking lot for pets & walkers. Neither walkers nor pets are allowed on the winter ski trails due to the risk of injury to all, and to maintain trail quality.
See the SNOW CONDITIONS page for up-to-date snow condition reports and WHITE
BUTTE TRAILS DETAILS for directions to the trailhead and a trail map.
See City Trail Conditions for similar information on several trails within the city
Frequent trail grooming is required for optimal
skiing conditions making it necessary to appeal for donations. In
the absence of trail fees, a daily donation in the trail head cash
box or a seasonal donation by mail is suggested.. Cheque's can be made
out to the Regina Ski Club/White Butte Trail donation and
mail it to:
