GROOMING GOODNESS SPREADS ACROSS SASKATCHEWAN
As part of the extended RSC-TPCS (Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport) partnership, a second
cross-country ski trail grooming clinic was held February 10 at White Butte trails (WBT) with our new
grooming machinery as the main feature. Subsequently, both Duck Mountain and Moose Mountain
Parks have each purchased a Ginzugroomer 108 with twin track-setters, and are interested in more
grooming clinics. So there are legitimate expectations of significant improvements in trail quality for
next season at our two most popular destinations.
Another nearby location boasting new grooming machinery (Tidd Tech G2 & electric
track-setter) for this season is Good Spirit Park & the Yorkton Ski Club.
And only 2 hours away this trail system makes another interesting day trip
option for Regina skiers. Several other locations contacted RSC for information
on upgraded grooming equipment this past off-season. Spruce Woods Park in
Manitoba, Saskatoon Ski Club & Creighton-Flinn Flonn Ski Club are all acquiring
grooming equipment upgrades. Also, the Kinsmen Park group here in Regina is
getting a new snowmobile. So, RSC machinery acquisitions & clinics over the
past few years are paying off hansomely.
The eight lucky FAE
Donor Draw recipients were Carol Fonger, John Adams, Claire Thorseth, Kelly Silcox, Darrell Shire,
Don Waite, Ken Roy and Fred Cameron. Gift certificates for twice the value of their donations can be
claimed at FAE. Thanks to FAE for continued support.
The In-City Trails Committee (RSC, Wascana Centre, City of Regina) continues to work towards
a new nordic trail development in A.E.Wilson Park (off McCarthy in the northwest) and an upgrade in
Wascana Park involving both nordic and alpine venues. Both initiatives have been presented to the
Wascana Park Board and the City Planning Committee responsible for Regina’s outdoor recreational
facilities. We are now waiting for further participation in the development of the City 2020 Plan for
Outdoor Recreational Facilities which has nordic ski trails as one of the four highest-priority items out
of the 35 identified in the consultant’s report.
Please remember next season to use the club website www.reginaskiclub.ca for updated trail
information for WBT, city trails and selected Provincial Park trails.
